Land registry
Official register of property rights and charges.
The land registry is the public register where all property rights and charges on real estate in Switzerland are recorded. It is maintained by cantonal land registry offices.
For a mortgage, registration of the mortgage note at the land registry is mandatory. It constitutes the lender's security.
Land registry fees are part of the acquisition costs and vary by canton (generally between 0.1% and 0.5% of the mortgage note amount).
The land registry is accessible to anyone demonstrating a legitimate interest.
